Things That Make Your Day, Or Even Your Week

My Director of Religious Education got the idea of hosting a 19th century Lyceum in our beautiful Victorian library next door. I agreed to give the first lecture of the year on Puritan poet Anne Bradstreet. You know how celebrities will have these outrageous waivers where they specify that they want such-and-such brand of champagne, and only green M&M’s and white roses and sixteen deep-dish spinach pizzas in their dressing room or limo or whatever? Well, I said to my DRE, “I’ll do the lecture, but my waiver specifies that I have to have peach seltzer, yellow roses, and Skittles in a china dish in my dressing room.” Our Youth Minister, Jen, chimed in with “And she doesn’t like the orange Skittles.” So we all laughed and I showed up tonight to give the talk and here’s what I saw when I got upstairs:
