Spiritual Practices

Cindy asks me about spiritual practices in a recent comment,
I’ve been wondering about this lately. Would it be frivolous to develop a spiritual practice around quieting the critical tapes that play in my head about *everything?*
I’ve been on a UU board for three terms now, and a couple of times, I’ve gone to parishioners to fall on my sword in person, with flair.
When one of the parishioners said: “Honey, lay down the yoke already! It’s a mistake, but you don’t have to drag it around the rest of your life.” I was shocked.

Putting aside the specific content of Cindy’s query, I want to say that it’s great to hear Unitarian Universalists talk about spiritual practices at all, because this hasn’t been a strength in our tradition for a very long time.
