If She’s Pregnant, She’s Not a Child

At first I thought that Joe Biden was being all gentlemanly and cool when he said yesterday that “Children are off limits,” referring to Bristol Palin, VP nom Sarah Palin’s 17-year old pregnant daughter.
I was like, “Way to go, Joe, take the high road.”
And then I thought Wait a minute.
Wait a cotton pickin’ minute.
Abortion and teen pregnancy, sexual education and reproductive rights are inflammatory, divisive and profoundly important policy issues in this country. What politicians like Joe Biden and Sarah Palin do in the White House and in Congress about those issues affect the real lives of millions of women and families. If Sarah Palin gets her wish, women like Bristol won’t have a choice whether or not to carry their pregnancy to term — to do otherwise will be criminalized.
Mr. Biden, if she’s pregnant, she isn’t a child.
