Happiness Is… A Clean Dining Room Table?

I got this link about Preparing For Holiday House Guests from a blog called The Happiness Project. I’m trying to find readings on eudaimonic happiness for this Sunday’s service from Plato or Socrates and my Google searches are getting more and more desperate and far-flung. I want to find something ancient and yet accessible and interesting, because we try to have one Reading From the Ancient and one Reading From the Contemporary. Might not happen this week. Of course I’m happy to use the Bible as one of the readings (from the ancient) but believe it or not… Jesus didn’t seem to think that happiness was a top goal for humanity and didn’t talk much about it.
